Sustainable Future: The successful installation of our Solar Car Port, generating clean energy and significantly reducing our carbon footprint. This project showcases our dedication to a greener, more sustainable operation for generations to come.

🥇 WE WON! Lewes Golf Club Takes Home the Environmental Sustainability Award at the 2025 Active Sussex Awards!
We are absolutely delighted and incredibly proud to announce that Lewes Golf Club has been named the winner of the Environmental Sustainability Award at the prestigious Sussex Sport & Physical Activity Awards 2025!
The award was presented at the ceremony in Hove on Thursday, November 27th, and it is a monumental achievement for the entire club and community.
Out of over 200 nominations received by Active Sussex, and following our shortlisting as a finalist, winning this award is the highest possible recognition of our commitment to environmental stewardship and working in harmony with our spectacular location in the South Downs National Park.
A Testament to a Greener Future
This award celebrates the success of our comprehensive, club-wide sustainability strategy. Our winning initiatives demonstrate that a premier golf experience can coexist with a flourishing, protected natural habitat:

Carbon Neutral Operations: The launch of our landmark Solar Carport with 104 PV panels, generating clean energy to make our clubhouse operations effectively carbon neutral.

Biodiversity & Wildlife: Our active habitat management, including installing bird boxes for native species (Starlings, Swifts, and Barn Owls), maintaining beehives, and working with partners like the Sussex Wildlife Trust. Our efforts have resulted in increased sightings of birds of prey, including kestrels and peregrine falcons.

Sustainable Course Care: Embracing natural solutions with a chemical-free course, meaning we do not use fungicides or pesticides, and implementing a 'cut-and-collect' mowing programme to protect and encourage the growth of native wildflowers on our chalk downland.
We extend our sincere thanks to Active Sussex, the judging panel, and all our dedicated staff, members, and partners who have supported our 'Go Green' journey. This award is a collective victory for the future of golf and nature.

Lewes golf club is a lovely part of sussex to enjoy a very challenging game of golf. We played at the end of November and the course was in excellent condition, I have played worse greens in the summer months, these are summer greens in the winter, they are still fast and very undulating with quite a few two tiers.
Fairways were generally quite wide but you still have to position tee shots because of the slopes.
The views are amazing, so even if your golf is rubbish there's always a stunning view to look at.
